Can we feed every animal. No. Can we feed even a few animals in any sustainable manner with money. No. Feeding cattle is costing farmers substantial amounts – some as high as $50,000 to $100,000 a month. And so the choice is between getting rid of their animals, their generation long breeding stock and the entire future of their farms and their incomes or feeding their families short term. This is not a choice. This is a life changing decision that ends fifth generation farms.
So what can we do? Well we can introduce Fodder Sheds – which have the ability to make three tonnes of animal food every five days. We can show farmers how to set themselves up with sustainable means of farming. We can import innovative technology that can get farmers through this drought and every other drought in the future. Farmers can come out of this drought better than they went in – providing innovative solutions to drought preparedness.
Do we have this technology – why YES we do.
Mike McCosker is interviewed about a Fodder Solutions Shed he recently installed on his property at Wallangra and how it has been a positive benefit to his cattle operation. He is able to produce feed from seed in 6 days and his farm is managed without the worry of tough times through drought.
Give A Fifty Mate campaign will install Fodder Sheds through drought affected regional NSW/QLD. As many as we can for PERMANET LONGTERM SOLUTIONS. Getting farmers out of the drought better than when they went in!
